Nicole Boivin and Michael Petraglia were awarded Honorary Professorships in the School of Social Science, The University of Queensland, Australia. The Department of Archaeology at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History already enjoys close collaborative relationships with the University of Queensland, having conducted joint interdisciplinary archaeological research in Africa and Asia.
Ongoing discussions are being held with Professor Andrew Fairbairn, Head of the Archaeology programme, and other academic faculty members, especially Dr. Alison Crowther, about future archaeological research in Africa and Asia. Future workshops will solidify and build on joint research programmes, including increased student and academic staff exchanges and the formulation of interdisciplinary archaeological field and laboratory work.
